HOW TO GROW CACAO FROM SEED

Pot filled with damp seed starter . Place the seed vertically with the root end down and cover with soil just to the top of the seed .Cover the pots  with plastic wrap and place them on germination mot to maintain their temperature,in 5-20 days the seed should sprout.

In cultivating cacao,plants are first grown from seeds or cuttings and then transplanted.Cacao tree it takes to grow about 5 years from seeds to grow mature and start producing cacao pods.The beans grow in a football shaped ( rugby ball ) pods on the trunk of the tree and from the larger branches.the average cacao tree produces 30-40 cacao pods  a year.
The pods are an average of 20 cm in length.Each pod typically contains between 20-50 coloured seeds.the seed call beans.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR A VANILLA PLANT TO FLOWER

Vanilla usually start flowering in the second or third year after planting . The time taken depending on the size of original cuttings.the maximum production of flowers is reached in 7 to 8 years. The vanilla bean take a mature after flowering on average .it takes between 45 - 60 days for long beans.the vanilla beans size reach over 15 cm to 20 cm length.

HOW TO POLLINATE THE VANILLA  FLOWER

The key to  vanilla is successfull pollination of the flower.
The flowers typically appear during the drier times of year and are triggered by the lack of rainfall.
They form in clusters of around  15 flowers ,with only one flower opening each day.
The flowers open for no more than 8 hours and are best pollinated early in the morning.If you are successed at pollination ,the flower will dry up but remain attached to the vine ,if it was not successfull the flower will fall off  within 24 hours.
